TREKKING IN TIBET
  Trekking to Namtso Lake (Camping)

Nam Tso situated at an altitude of 4590 meters at the edge of the Qhiang Tang, Tibet's vast Northern Plateau . Our trek begins from Duojia Temple. After four days trekking through glaciated valleys and mountains of the Nyenchen Thanglha range around the Nam Tso Lake we reach Tashi peninsula, we will visit Tashi Dorje, a cave temple of Nyingma Sect at the southeast of the Tashi peninsula. During the summer months the wide open spaces are filled with nomad herders and their herds of yaks and tents - an intoxicating sight. We will also visit sacred spots, holy shrines, and the bird sanctuary.

Since the region is very remote, we should carry camping & kitchen equipment and provisions for the entire trekking part. You can combine Nam Tso lake trek with Lhasa tour or any other Tibet tour that ends or commences in Lhasa.

The best season for trekking in Nam Tso Lake is late May to Mid-October, however you must be prepared at all times for wet weather, snow and cold winds. Summer rain can be quite persistent during July and August; also snowfall may block the way at Largen-La sometimes.

Itinerary

Day 01: Lhasa - Namtso lake - Duojia Temple

In the morning we drive to Namtso through Yangbache hot-spring ,Damxung and arrive at Namtso Lake where we have lunch. Then, we visit to Duojia Temple, the biggest in the area by the Nam Tso Lake.

Day 02: Trekking Duojia - Buguzhari - Bularanka

Trek to Buguzhari Cave. Inside the cave we see numerous images of birds, animals, trees, flowers, clouds, characters, etc. So strange it is! These images change constantly, sometimes clear and faint after some time.

Day 03: Trekking Buguzhari - Qiaduonanka Island - Angbakonglong Island

On the Holy Qiaduonanka Island, there are many naturally made Buddhist images and characters as well as many caves. The remains of the former Qiaduo temple, which had been destructed during the Cultural Revolution, faces toward the Nyenchentangla Mountain ridges. Several erected giant stones are regarded as the entrance door of the holy mountain. During today's trek, we see lots of Mongolian gazelles and blue sheep on the way.

Day 04: Trekking Angbakonglong Island - Jiachangcuiguo - No.1 Camp

Jiachangcuiguo is regarded as one of the Four Great Bathing Gate of the Holy Nam Tso Lake. It is believed by the people that having bathing and baptism in this holy lake will help them being extricated from all the since and bring luck and longevity for them. The soft sand by the lake is somewhat hard to walk on.

Day 05: Trekking No.1 Camp - Nam Village - Tashi Peninsula

The approaching of Tashi Peninsula means the completion of walking around the holy lake. Tashi Peninsula is the biggest one among the islands of Nam Tso Lake. Explore the Tashi peninsula by walking around the holy hill, the cliffs of which have eroded over the centuries. Also, we'll visit Tashi Dorje, a cave temple of Nyingma Sect at the southeast of the Tashi peninsula.

Day 06: Nam Tso Lake - Yangbajing - Lhasa

In the morning we walk around the peninsula and then drive back to Lhasa passing by Yangbajing. It is a wonderful experience to take a bath in the high-quality hot springs. Subsequently, we reach Lhasa.
